The Pegasus HT-C is a versatile workhorse designed for a wide range of GC applications. Featuring “unit” mass resolution, scan speeds up to 500 Hz, and a substantially larger pumping system compared to the Pegasus BT, it supports analysis using columns from 0.53 mm (handling up to 10 mL He/min) down to 0.10 mm, including fast chromatography when required.
GC×GC Capability
Thanks to its high scan speed and robust pumping capacity, the Pegasus HT-C is also particularly well-suited for comprehensive two-dimensional gas chromatography (GC×GC). With cold-spot refocusing before the second dimension, GC×GC delivers significantly sharper peaks than conventional GC analysis.
In GC×GC, peaks typically elute over a period of 35–200 ms. Accurate quantification generally requires around 10 data points per peak, translating to complete scans every <3.5 ms (approximately 300 scans/sec). Achieving this performance requires not only a high-quality TOF analyzer but also software capable of reliably handling GC×GC data. ChromaTOF software fulfills this role with a robust, logically designed interface that ensures consistent operation and precise data processing for every run.
